Curse is seeking a Python engineer to join a small development team tasked with ongoing feature development and maintenance of a django based MMO gaming portal website. Candidate should have experience w/ scaling webapps for highly concurrent access, and the issues involved:

  • Understanding of sharding
  • Issues caused by replication
  • Understanding of web caching methods (cache headers, etags, etc) and the issues inherint in it.

Beyond that, the candidate would be expected to follow normal development rules:

  • Work with Graphic Designers, Project Managers and Engineering team to develop the site
  • Responsible for writing documentation.
  • Responsible for adhering to coding standards and processes.
  • Responsible for communicating progress or problems to Project Managers.
  • Estimating level of effort for new projects.

Required Experience:

  • 4+ years coding (general, OOP preferred)
  • at least 18 months of python as primary language
  • SQL 2+ years
  • HTML 2+ years
  • Long term usage of at least one python framework (django would be preferred).

Additional Skills:

  • Familiar with VCS (cvs, svn, perforce, git/hg/bzr)
  • Apache/Squid/Lighty
  • Linux
  • Shell Scripting
  • Perl
  • Familiarity with Jinja, JQuery a plus
  • JS/Ajax would be nice
